Robbie Seay Band - Song of hope

Perdón nuevamente por esta larga ausencia, que se debió mas que nada a problemas con el reproductor de mp3 que ven a su izquierda... voy a ver si le encuentro la vuelta.
Pero volviendo a lo nuestro; la verdad que el "rock católico" debe ser una de las mejores herramientas (al menos conmigo parece funcionar) para atraer fieles hoy en día. Robbie Seay Band es el proyecto liderado (obviamente) por Robbie Seay, y es la banda estable de Ecclesia una iglesia de la zona de Houston, donde Chris Seay (hermano de Robbie) es el pastor.

Robbie Seay y sus discípulos, dieron el salto de la iglesia a la discográfica en el 2005 y lanzaron su primer disco oficial " durante el 2007; si prestamos atención a sus letras sus alusiones a lo religioso son inevitables, pero si tienes otro tipo de creencias basta con no prestarle atención a las palabras (el no entender inglés tambien ayuda) para disfrutar de una muy buena melodía.
Así que si andan por Estados Unidos y quieren escuchar música del estilo de Keane pero con ciertos toques celestiales y mensajes de esperanza, ya saben por donde pasarse.

Lifehouse - All in all

Lifehouse me produce una sensación bastante contradictoria, por un lado tienen una cantidad de canciones interesantes; por el otro, no creo que valga la pena escuchar más de cuatro de ellas seguidas, menos aún un disco entero. Probablemente esto se deba a que sus temas me resultan parecidos entre sí; encontraron el "tipo de canción" que les da resultados y no salen de esa receta.
Por eso puede ser que haya optado por un tema que no ha sido corte de difusión de ninguno de sus álbumes, "All in all".
Lifehouse se formó allá por el año 99 y estos casi diez años de carrera le permitieron conseguir un par de éxitos como "Take me away" o "You and me", la cual pertenece a su tercer disco, lanzado en el 2005 y que llevaban el nombre de la banda como título. En ese mismo disco se incluye "All in all", la cual no se sale mucho de la "receta Lifehouse", guitarras que comienzan acústicas, líneas de bajo que cumplen y la áspera voz de Jason Wade en primer plano.

The All-American Rejects - Move Along

Llevaba un rato sin aparecer por el blog, y felizmente veo que hemos pasado (y por bastante) las 7000 visitas; lo que significa que detrás del monitor hay alguien que me lee...
Ya les había hablado anteriormente de "The All American Rejects"; cuando les dejé "It ends tonight"; hoy lo que les dejo acá es "Move Along"; una canción que les puedo asegurar que va muy bien en el reproductor de mp3 cuando salís a correr (bueno en realidad no hay mucha evidencia, solo salí a correr una vez, pero sirvió...)
"Move along" fue el segundo single del disco homónimo, y fue lanzado en este formato en enero del 2006. Alcanzó el puesto #15 del "Billboard Hot 100" y la banda lo tocó en la edición 2006 de los "MTV Video Music Awards"

The Feeling - Sewn

The Feeling irrumpe en el mundo de la música en el año 2006 y a partir de ese momento se convirtieron en un suceso comercial en Inglaterra. Su disco debut "Twelve stops and home" es una obra maestra del pop, y un ejemplo de como tiene que sonar una banda popular en este siglo. A través de pegajosas melodías, un excelente manero de coros y algunos arreglos electrónicos, estos londinenses grabaron un disco que alcanzó a vender más de 1.5 millones de copias. El primer corte de difusión fue el tema que acá les dejo "Sewn". Como toda banda pop obviamente no escaparon a las críticas constantes de un sector del periodismo "especializado" que los tildó de comerciales, pero al fin y al cabo su propuesta es honesta; no pretenden ser super estrellas de rock tampoco. Durante el 2008 salió su 2do disco, "Join with us" el cual en mi opinión no se encuentra a la altura de su predecesor; pero en el cual se destacan un par de canciones bastante interesantes.

Tyler Hilton - Glad

"Ningún parentezco con Paris"; de esta manera se presenta Tyler Hilton, tratando de marcar diferencias con su no tan talentosa tocaya. Y la verdad que resulta bastante raro que recién a estas alturas aparezca por acá; siendo uno de los primeros artistas que escuché de este estilo (cuando no) en One Tree Hill. La primera impresión que podemos tener al buscar una de sus fotos es "uh otro rubiecito haciendo pop"; y si bien por un lado es pop lejos está de ser "otro rubiecito"; estamos hablando de un canta-autor muy interesante con un excelente manejo de las melodías, al punto de ser nombrado por algún sector de la crítica como "el nuevo Bryan Adams". Tiene editados hasta el día de hoy 2 discos (de los cuales el primero me resultó imposible de conseguir), siendo el último el lanzado en 2004 "The tracks of"; en el cual se encuentran muy buenos temas como, o "When It comes"; "The letter´s song" o "Kiss on me"; pero finalmente me decidí por dejarles "Glad", que si bien a esta altura no me parece su mejor canción fue el primero que escuché y por el cual busqué algo más de su material, así que me parece lo más justo. Una versión de este mismo tema pero "acústica" se puede encontrar en la banda de sonido de One Tree Hill.
Paralelamente a su carrera como cantante también tuvo algunos roles como actor, participando en la ya nombrada "One Tree Hill"; e interpretando el papel del mismísimo Elvis Presley en la biografía de Johnny Cash "Walk the line"
Por último, les cuento que se espera el lanzamiento de su nuevo disco para este año 2008, así que habrá que esperar nomás...

Matt Nathanson - I Saw

Matt Nathanson es uno de esas razones por los que me gustaría ir de bares por Estados Unidos; son esos artistas que hacen giras por todo el país tocando en lugares chicos; la cual parece la mejor manera de apreciar su música. Porque coincidamos en que los estadios o los teatros multitudinarios no son el mejor ámbito para su folk/soft rock. Su carrera comienza en el año 1993, con el lanzamiento de su primer álbum Please, y 14 años después aparece el que es hasta ahora su último trabajo Some Mad Hope, disco del que destaco el tema "All we are". Pero la canción elegida para el post de hoy "I Saw" se encuentra en su 5to disco "Beneath these fireworks" del año 2003, y sino me equivoco la escuché en el segundo capítulo de la sexta temporada de Scrubs; y de ahí vino directamente a "Ni a la esquina".

James Carrington - Ache

Hay una gran diferencia entre esta entrada y la última que había hecho; sobre "Maybe I´m Amazed" tenía mucho para decirles, sobre James Carrington no se prácticamente nada. Solo que escuché esta canción en algún programa de televisión y salí disparado a ver como se llamaba. Por lo (muy) poco que escuché, hace folk y es inglés; y si nos remitimos al último artista que tenía estas dos características y que estuvo en este blog, llegamos a Jack Savoretti, por lo que la vara está muy alta como para comparar. James Carrington es uno de esos pocos músicos (menos aún en latinoamérica) que estudiaron música en la universidad, y sus influencias van por el lado de James Taylor, Paul McCartney, el mismo Colin Hay del que ya hablaré luego, entre otros; por lo que se pueden hacer una idea sobre que esperar de él.

PD: Si están pensando que últimamente pongo muchas canciones "tranquilas", pueden llegar a tener razón... es lo que suena en mi PC en estos días; pero ya volverán las distorsiones.
